CLA EXPERIMENT

The CLA was initially chosen because it is a prime location for studying a type of precipitation generated by warm clouds. The period from 01 to 20 March 2010 (rainy season) was chosen for the experiment. Moreover, the CLA has a base with adequate infrastructure to carry out an experiment of this nature. There is a stake of about 50 people including 10 foreigners (NASA, IRS, etc..) In the experiment.

The measures to be taken during the experiment will be made using:

  1. Meteorological Radar – precipitation, cloud structure.
  2. Radiosondes – temperature, humidity and wind profiles
  3. Anemometric Tower – wind direction and speed
  4. Surface meteorological station– several meteorological parameters
  5. Microwave Radiometer – temperature and humidity profiles
  6. LIDAR – aerosol backscattering
  7. Disdrometer – raindrops characteristics
  8. GPS – global positioning system
  9. Lightning detector
  10. VANT (Air Vehicle Unmanned ) – pressure, temperature, humidity and wind speed/direction
  11. Airplane – several parameters
